ABCCA: Its Brief Genesis
ABBCA was born out of the
concurrence of the higher thoughts of two dedicated servant leaders: Cagayan de
Oro City Mayor Vicente “Dongkoy” Emano and former CDA Administrator Soc Anthony
Ma. del Rosario. Both of them have the common vision of strengthening the
barangay empowerment and cooperative movement in the countryside through
education to fight against hunger and extreme poverty as they believe that
“education” is the only answer to abate this malady.
After series of meetings
among the concerned players in the city, the 1st ABCCA campus in Cagayan de Oro City
was finally established at 12:00 noon on July 30, 2007, when Hon. Vicente Y.
Emano stepped down as city mayor to serve as the vice mayor then, in Brgy.
Balubal with PB Pablo M. Bactong, then followed within a year by ABCCA
Dansolihon, Iponan and Corrales campuses with Hon. PB Rodolfo R. Tabudlong, PB
Anthony O. Brellita and PB Alfredo C. Viernes. ABCCA Lumbia campus with PB
Wilhelm E. Valencia followed. And today, mark the opening of Calaanan campus.
The ABCCA family therefore
wishes to express its profound gratitude to the Local Government Unit of
Cagayan de Oro City, Barangay Officials, Cooperative Development Authority
(CDA), Department of Education (DepEd), Technical Education and Skills Development
Authority (TESDA), Mindanao University of Science and Technology (MUST) and
Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) for the noble deeds they
have done to grant ABCCA its birthright.
